I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend! It always comes up so fast. Memorial Day always makes me take a minute to think about how grateful life is in this country. Having little things like – running water, a car to drive to work everyday, a job, a house to live in – it’s all because of the men and women who fought for our country. I am forever thankful.
This past weekend, we were planning on relaxing at home but Chuck planned a trip with some friends to McCall, Idaho. On day one, we flew to McCall, drove around Payette Lake, stopped to enjoy the scenery, and grabbed dinner. The second day (was probably THE coolest!) we flew to a place called Sulfur Creek Ranch, which is a remote location where you either fly or horse back ride into the area. You don’t have service and there’s only one restaurant where majority of the community lives (upstairs). There is no menu, the gal at the kitchen simply asks, ‘Are ya’ll hungry? I’ve got breakfast cooking for you!’ And the breakfast was great. It was THE coolest place I’d ever been. After Sulfur Creek, we flew around the back country, checked out a few other remote locations where you can camp and enjoy the area. All in all, it was such a cool, exciting experience to see Idaho and the beautiful back country terrain.
The weather was absolutely perfect – 70 degrees and sunny – not too hot, not too cold. Trying to figure out what to wear makes it difficult especially when it’s cold in the morning and somewhat hot in the afternoon. I decided to pair these light wash denim (super comf!) with a simple tee, some converse, and my army green jacket. (P.S. The jacket and the tee are on sale!) It was perfect for walking around town, exploring different remote locations, and transitioned well to dinner plans.
Converse are a closet must-have because 1) they are easy to walk in 2) they pair well with any denim and 3) they can dress down an outfit when you are in need of a casual look. If you are looking for some walking shoes that are still cute and can be paired with anything, I’d recommend converse. They are under $100 too – win/win!
What did you do over Memorial Day Weekend?
