The sun is finally starting to shine here in Seattle and I’m loving it. Last week, we had a few beautiful days and I took advantage of them.
I have recently stumbled upon Chicwish, this absolutely adorable online store that sells beautiful skirts at great prices. I ended up getting this skirt for Christmas and finally wore it for the first time to work last Friday. Now, I know the skirt is loud, big, and beautiful and you may be thinking, ‘Gosh, is that work appropriate?’. Well, sister, it is and here’s why.
- It’s Casual Friday. What do we all say about Friday’s at work – it’s casual. To many, it may mean you can wear jeans vs. slacks. To me, casual Friday means, you have the opportunity to express your style, within reason. Skirts are comfortable for me, so I decided it was casual Friday appropriate. I paired it with a long sleeve, swoop neck top and some heels and was twirling all the way to the office. P.S. I got a ton of compliments on it from ladies and gents around the office. Always a plus!
- Make a Statement. I love statement items. In my closet, you’ll find a cork board full of hanging, statement necklaces. You’ll also find vibrant skirts like this one or bright tops that I usually like to pair with jeans or pants. At work, I like to wear my statement staples. It shows who I am through my style. If you asked one of my colleagues, they may say I have a big personality. Well, my clothes mirror that. No matter if you’re at work or with your girlfriends, you want to wear something that is authentic to you. When you are wearing something that just isn’t you, your whole demeanor changes. I find it hardest add your authentic style to your work dress code, so I get it. Hopefully this post and others will help you with that.
- From Day-to-Night. Not only are skirts easy to wear, but they can be great pieces to transform from day-to-night. This skirt was perfect for my dinner plans last Friday night. I left work and went straight to dinner with Chuck. We didn’t have time to go home and change so whatever I was wearing to work was my evening ensemble. This skirt worked out great. The hostesses at the restaurant complimented me on it and I got two wears out of it – work and date night. Win-win if you ask me!
What are your favorite day-to-night outfits?
