Ok ya’ll, when you’re 5’0, it is hard to find denim (period). They’re either too long, fit perfect at your hips but super big at your waist, or are simply too baggy. So finding boyfriend denim that a) fits a petite gal, b) looks good and c) aren’t too baggy can be challenging. However, Aritzia has been having a massive denim sale. What I love about Aritzia is they have a selection of high end denim but they are like $300 and I’m just not the kinda gal to spend that on denim. So when they had their sale and I was able to find $325 denim for $89.99, I snagged those jeans so fast, I was out of that store before you could say, ‘May I help you!’.
What I love about these boyfriend jeans is they are the perfect length (not too long! thank goodness) and are not too baggy. They fit really well and the best part of them all – they feel like you’re wearing sweats, they’re so comfortable. Now I can kind of see why they’re $300 bucks. I’ve worn them a few times now and am like – should I go buy another pair cause they’re the most comfortable denim I own.
On top of figuring out how to find the right boyfriend denim, we gotta figure out how to style them. Below I’ve outlined a few ways I’d recommend styling them up:
- Wear Flats. I love the look of boyfriend denim with flats. Grab your favorite flats that you own and any of them will pair well with boyfriend jeans.
- Simple and Slimming Tee. When you’re petite, boyfriend denim need to be the statement piece of your look. Given they are baggier, you typically don’t want to add a slouchy top because it will make you look bigger than you are (especially if you’re petite!). I would recommend pairing boyfriend denim with a simple tee you can tuck in the front or a more form fitted shirt that tucks in. This way, you are accentuating your waist, while still showing off those jeans.
- Add a Fun Bracelet. I mean, I guess I’d say this for any outfit, but feel free to add some fun bracelets. And I specifically am highlighting bracelets because a statement necklace will be too much with this look. Again, your statement is your denim so you don’t want to add too many accessories but a fun, colorful bracelet would add a dynamic touch.
