• Hosting a Dinner Party?…

Happy Monday and first day of June! Hope you got to enjoy some downtime this weekend before the week kicks off.  I always feel like we need an extra day to relax! We had a busy weekend! We hosted two dinner parties back to back – Friday & Saturday.  Friday night, we had 7 people and Saturday night we had 6 people (including us) so a full house to say the least.  We absolutely love hosting but when we book dinner parties back to back, there’s a lot of planning, prepping, and organization involved to ensure we don’t work around the clock. Here are a few tips on how to…

Not too hot and perfect for a…

  • Nordstrom, Bubbly, and My Bestie…

If you work Monday through Friday, Saturday’s & Sunday’s are sacred days.  I cherish every minute of those two days because it’s the time I get to spend with family and friends.  Ever since college, I have spent the majority of my Saturday’s shopping and dining with my best friend, Alyssa.  From engagements to weddings to vacations to work – we schedule Saturday’s to spend quality time together.  It allows us to catch up on the week, do what we love (shop) and enjoy a nice glass of bubbly over lunch(!!). Here’s a breakdown of my bestie and I’s date last Saturday. I met Alyssa at her house and we…

  • Paleo Pumpkin Muffins

A few years ago, my husband, Chuck, came home with a recipe for paleo muffins.  He is a Crossfit trainer and at the time was training at Crossfit Redmond. There was such a great community of people that worked out/trained there and they always had yummy paleo recipes to share. One of them was the famous Paleo Pumpkin Muffins shared by Jenny Olson – one of the best trainers. These muffins are delicious, filling, and great for breakfast or snacks throughout the day. Enjoy! Ingredients 1/2 C coconut flour 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp sea salt 1/2 C pureed pumpkin 6 eggs, beaten 4 T…

  • It's the little things…

How many of you have hand-written a card recently to thank someone, send a birthday note, or just simply send a note to let someone know you are thinking of them?  Anyone? • Not Your Ordinary Granola…

I don’t know about you, but right after lunch my sweet tooth kicks in.  I always want just one piece of chocolate – which turns into a handful and me thinking just one more.  I was getting addicted to grabbing a few pieces of chocolate after lunch everyday at work. I seriously had to stop. Guess what?  I found an alternative – my own granola! I know what your thinking.  How does granola satisfy your sweet tooth?! I know, I know.  It’s definitely not a replacement for chocolate but it appeases my craving. And it’s paleo. Woohoo! Not only is this snack great to curb those sweet cravings, but it’s also great for…

  • Achieving Work-Life Balance

I wake up at 5:20AM during the week, head to Bar Method (3-4 times a week), and am ‘butt in seat’, at my desk by 7:45AM everyday. Even if I don’t workout, I still get up early and get to work by 8AM. I, then, leave between 4:30 and 5:00pm to beat traffic on the way home. The Net: I have 9-ish hours to work…..not just work, but work (i.e. hustle).  There are days where I have meetings starting at 8:00AM and ending at 4:00PM with one, 1/2 hour break throughout the entire day.  How in the heck are you supposed to get any work done? Then there are days…

  • Mother's Day Gift Ideas…

As Mother’s Day is fast approaching (only 3 days away), I’ve been thinking about how I can make my mother and mother-in-law’s day super special.  Before we went to Mexico I went to the mall to get a few Mother’s Day gifts and landed in one of my favorite stores – Anthropologie. Anthro not only has the cutest clothes ever, but they have fantastic kitchen gadgets, house items, and jewelry that are perfect for our special moms.  As I walked through the store I found a ton of gifts that reminded me of my mom and my mother-in-law and ended up getting them the best gifts (at least I think…

  • The People Behind the Resort…

Saturday night, we came home from a week full of relaxation, reflection, and rejuvenation.  As we were flying home, I was reminiscing about our trip and all the wonderful people we met.  Everyday we would be greeted by the same people with a smile that stretched ear to ear. These same smiling people, would stop by throughout the day, wherever we were lounging, to ensure we were enjoying our time.  Their spirit and positive energy was infectious and created an instant friendship from day 1. The people I’m talking about are those behind the resort – the one’s that make the resort exceptional. These awesome people work 20 days straight…
