Happy Thursday all! As you’ve been seeing lately, I’ve been a little obsessed with dresses. All kinds of dresses. Now that the sun is starting to shine a bit more here in Seattle, I’ve not only been wearing dresses on my weekend outings, but I’ve been wearing them to work too.
I found this dress from…wait for it….Target! I know, I know. I’ve gotten the last two dresses on Fiercely Charming from Target. You’re probably thinking, ‘Seriously, Lauren?’ And yes, I’m dead serious. I love great prices and even more, I love great deals. Target is my way to shop. Now, let’s talk about this dress.
In my opinion, it is the perfect dress to wear to your next business meeting. I ended up wearing it last week when I had to present to my manager and general manager.
If you’re interested in hearing why it was so perfect for my meeting, I’ve jotted down 3 that I hope you can relate to:
- Collared with Buttons. A button-up, collared white shirt is a wardrobe basic and perfect for the office. You can wear it with slacks, jeans, or under sweaters in the winter. It looks dressy, professional, and has been an office essential for decades. This dress in particular has that vibe. It has the collar, which adds confidence and buttons to add structure so you can feel your best when delivering content to your leadership.
- Confidence. Whenever I wear heels, I feel like I can conquer the world. Many of you may be thinking, ‘That must be everyday cause you wear heels all the time.’ Well that’s true, but not all the time do I pair my heels with something that truly makes me feel fierce, bold, and Beyonce-esq. Well, this dress does. It’s flowy, but structured, and hangs longer in the back than in the front, which makes you feel like you have a train on your dress. I mean, who doesn’t want to feel that way. I added my Louboutin pumps, a hot pink lip, and boom! You could have literally told me I had to present to my Corporate Vice President that day, I would’ve nodded my head and said, ‘What time?’. Now, that’s the confidence you want to have when presenting at work.
- Hides Your Nerves. I don’t know about you but whenever I present, even if I know the material like the back of my hand, there’s an anxiety that overcomes me right before I present. Does that happen to you? Well, if it does, you know what I’m saying. Some times my nerves will show through my skin…literally. My nerves are shown in my chest – it gets super red. One of my mentors told me that I must hide that while presenting. It shows that you’re nervous and can make you vulnerable (at least, thats how I feel). This dress buttons right up to the bottom of your neck, so if you have the same issue as I do, it covers that up and no one will ever know you were nervous.
Now, I hope I’ve convinced you to head to Target and get this perfect office dress. Again, it’s only $34.99! I mean, you really can’t beat that.
